DMK move hailed

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI DEC. 21 . The Congress MP, Mani Shankar Aiyar, today welcomed the move by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam to pull out from the National Democratic Alliance Government and said it could lead to the strengthening of the secular forces.

In a statement here, Mr. Aiyar said the essential communal nature of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA had made it extremely difficult for the DMK and its supporters to share space with "sadhus and swamis."

He said "given the pro-Hindutva bias" of the AIADMK, it was imperative for the secular forces in Tamil Nadu to get together and congratulated Mr. Karunanidhi for his "wise decision."
