Accused in murder case held

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABD DEC. 21. The Nampally police on Sunday solved the murder case of a pavement dweller, Feroz (20), with the apprehension of Tej Bahadur Thapa Chatri (20) of Public Gardens. Tej Bahadur and Feroz allegedly used to indulge in pick-pocketing and a dispute over sharing the booty resulted in the killing, the Saifabad ACP, Ramesh Naidu, told a press conference here.

On November 7, the duo had an argument over sharing money. Tej Bahadur bore grudge against Feroz, as the latter beat him up. The next day they met at Public Gardens. Feroz sustained a bleeding injury on the neck when Tej Bahadur made a lunge at him with a blade. After chasing Tej Bahadur for some distance, he collapsed near the Public Gardens railway track.

The Nampally Railway staff alerted the railway police who shifted Feroz to the hospital. Feorz died the same evening while undergoing treatment. Tej reportedly confessed to the police that he murdered Feroz.

Man rescued from `kidnappers': In another case, the Nampally police today rescued a Registered Medical Practitioner, Manmohan Singh (60), who was allegedly kidnapped by his landlord, Shankar Rao, following a dispute over payment of rent. While Shankar Rao and two of his associates managed to escape, his sons, Kalyan and Ashwin, Syed and Mohammed were caught.

Manmohan Singh's wife, Yashoda Bhai, approached the police this morning saying her husband was kidnapped by the landlord. A couple of hours later, Shankar Rao called up saying her husband was in his custody and asked her to come to Vijayanagar Colony to settle the dispute.

When she asked how to locate the house, he assured that his accomplice, Khurshid, would guide her. The police laid a trap and caught Khurshid, who led them to the house where Manmohan was confined. Shankar Rao was one of the accused in the sensational scholarship scam case. Inspector, Anil Kumar, investigated both the cases.
