Double delight for Chinnappa

Bangalore Dec. 22. The 16-year old Deepak Paul Chinnappa of Bangalore achieved a coveted double in the sixth and concluding round of the MRF-MAI Formule Mondiale Championship held at Freeway 19. Naren Pratap led from the pole to the finish in the Asian Zone National Karting Championship (AZNKC). The eight points from this race took Chinnappa's tally to 21 that secured him the championship.

Earlier, Chinnappa emerged champion in the Indian National Karting Championship (INKC) category despite failing to finish the 26-lap event.

Asian Zone National Karting Championship (32 laps): Naren Pratap (Blr - 19m43.351s) ; 2. Deepak Paul Chinnappa ( Blr - 19:43.588); 3. Preetham Muniappa (Blr-19:45.155) ; 4. Audumder Hede (Goa-19:47.35) ; 5. Rayomand Banarjee (Pune-19:58.690).

Indian National Karting Championship (INKC) (26 laps): 1. Audumder Hede (Goa) 15:56:669; 2. Preetham Muniappa (Blr) 16:00.191; 3. Sudarshana K. Rao (Blr) 16:04.860.

Kadet-Indian National Karting Championship (K-INKC) (14 laps): 1. Vishnu Prasad (Che) 8:33.019; 2. Ajay Kini (Che) 8:44.103; 3. Ashwin Sundar (Chennai) 8:57.134.

Karting Champions Trophy (Finals, 20 laps): 1. Sriju Sadasivam (Blr) 12:48.251; 2. Sudarshana Rao (Blr) 12:51.146; 3. Tuhin Mehta (Che) 12:53.094.

Karting Champions Trophy (pre-final, 18 laps): 1. Tuhin Mehta 11:38.892; 2. Sriju Sadasivam 11:40.778; 3. Lakshmisha V. 11:44.225.
