Letters to the Editor
Sir, The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's pulling out of the NDA Government is on expected lines. The ideals of the BJP and the DMK are drastically different and it was only the `flexibility' in their political approach and the desire to beat their rivals to the top seat that forced them into this unlikely partnership. Jeyshree Jayaraman, Coimbatore, T.N. * * * Sir, Self-interest, not ideology, was behind the DMK's withdrawal from the Central Government. As the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Dersam Party president,, N. Chandrababu Naidu, has shown, providing outside support is more beneficial. K. Malikul Azeez, Chennai * * * Sir, The NDA should heave a sigh of relief that the DMK is out of the coalition. In fact, it will be better if the NDA does not start courting the AIADMK now. Ravee Nerur, Bangalore * * * Sir, The DMK president, M. Karunanidhi, should have called a meeting of all the partners of the NDA and discussed the issue before taking a decision. S. Rajkumar, Chennai
