Birthday politics

Sir, — The decision to celebrate the Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee's birthday on December 25 by preparing a 3,000-kg `laddoo' (Dec. 21) shows how much our politics has deteriorated.

Only recently, a huge birthday party was held for the Congress president. Instead, the money spent on such `shows' can be donated to some noble cause.
