The English daily, The Daily Times, claimed in a report today that the movements of Dr. Khan, who established the Khan Research Laboratories at Kahuta, had been restricted and that he was being "debriefed". At least two scientists from Khan Research Laboratories, the country's top nuclear laboratory, have been held for questioning this month, including its former director-general, Mohammad Farooq. Following protests by political parties, a government spokesman maintained that they were not under detention but were being "debriefed". He argued that it was a routine practice in nuclear capable states. "In-house investigations have been going on and some scientists have participated in debriefing sessions. These are continuing and relevant departments will make a definitive determination upon the conclusion of this process," the Foreign Office spokesman, Masood Khan, said.
