New Delhi
By Our Staff Reporter
Leading the Assembly in paying respects was the Speaker, Ajay Maken, who said the untimely and sad demise of the late Congress leader had left a vacuum. He recalled his close association with Bandhu and also the positions he held for the past almost 32 years in politics. The Chief Minister, Sheila Dikshit, said in the sudden demise of Deep Chand Bandhu, the House had lost a valuable member and the people of Delhi a leading light. She said the former Minister was not a leader of a single community but his influence extended to all sections of the society. In his tributes, the Nationalist Congress Party legislator, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, recalled his friendship with Bandhu and said the former Minister was a man of his word. He said despite being a Jat leader, he was popular among other sections of the society and the fact that he was elected twice to the Delhi Assembly proved his popularity among the masses. A number of other members including the Leader of the Opposition, Jagdish Mukhi, also paid tributes to the departed soul.
