Small Industries Institute to conduct new course

HYDERABAD DEC. 22. The Small Industries Services Institute (SISI) will organise a six-month full-time skill development programme on `Scientific glass blowing and glass decorative articles' beginning from January 20, 2004.

The minimum educational qualification is seventh class and the candidates should be between 18 and 35 years of age.

However, for the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates, the upper age limit relaxation of five years is applicable.

The course fee would be Rs 2000 for general candidates and Rs 1000 for SC/ST candidates.

The applications should reach the director of SISI, Narsapur crossroads, Balanagar, Hyderabad - 37 before January 9, 2004. Further details can be collected by calling 23078131 or 23078132.

Astronomy course

The Association of Hyderabad Amateur Astronomers (AHAA) will organise courses in astronomy and astrophysics specially designed for school students of higher classes, teachers and those interested in astronomy, from Tuesday. Those interested can contact 23203168 or 98482 40273.

Handwriting improvement

The Literacy House will organise a training programme for students who want to improve their handwriting from Wednesday at the Andhra Mahila Sabha campus on OU Road.

The course is open for students who are between seven and 10 years of age. The director of National Handwriting Academy, Mallikarjuna Rao, will conduct the classes. Further details can be had from 27096464 or 2709 8406.

Slogan competition

The Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) is conducting a slogan and cartoon competition in Telugu and English on "Oil conservation for a better future."

The cartoons should be drawn on A4 six paper. The entries should be submitted to the State Coordinator, PCRA, 100, Kalyan Nagar - III, Hyderabad 18.
