Andhra Pradesh-Hyderabad
By Our Staff Reporter
Addressing a news conference here on Monday, the TDP general secretary, K. Kala Venkat Rao, Rajya Sabha member, K. Ramamohan Rao, and spokesman, N. Sivaprasad, alleged that it had become a habit with the Congress to file false cases in the court to show the TDP in poor light before elections. The party had filed a case in the High Court with the same allegations before the Assembly elections in 1999. After the court struck it down, the voters also gave their verdict by defeating the Congress in the polls. The same would be the fate of Congress in the coming elections with the High Court repeating its judgement, they said. They said except a change in the persons who filed the cases in 1999 and now there was no difference in the content of the allegations in the petitions. It was K. Upendar Reddy, a Congress activist, who filed the case in 1999 while it is N. Krishna Kumar Goud, convenor of the legal cell of Congress, now. They also said the allegations figured in discussions in the Assembly three times, after which the Congress approached the High Court in 1999. The Congress was taken to the habit of criticising every programme of the State Government, including Janmabhoomi, the Mid-day meal, Deepam scheme and the hi-tech city construction.
