Christmas at temple

New Delhi: It was an unusual Christmas celebration. The venue was a temple, the carols replaced Bhajans and cake was the "prasad." In a unique effort to promote communal amity, a capital-based NGO, Sanatan Sanskriti Sansthan, celebrated Christmas in the famous Bodhi temple here, with Christian, Muslim and Buddhist religious leaders cutting the cake in the backdrop of the idol of Lord Buddha. Santa Claus was also there distributing gifts and young Sikh men organised their traditional `langar' (community kitchen). "Jesus Christ preaches the message of peace and brotherhood. This effort of bringing people of different faiths together in the celebration of Christmas is laudable. We ate `langar' together. It symbolises perfect communal harmony, " said Rev. M.S.Luka of Trinity Church. — PTI
