Engineer, son held in telephone exchange attack

Srinagar Dec.25 . The Jammu and Kashmir police have arrested an executive engineer of the Power Development Department and his son in connection with last month's suicide attack on the Indira Nagar telephone exchange in the high-security Badamibagh cantonment area here, a police spokesman said today.

The spokesman said Nazir Ahmad Jan, a resident of Lal bazar, and his son were arrested based on the information furnished by the captured Pakistani militant, Mohammad Ibran Chowhan alias Abu Iqbal, a resident of Gujranwala.The attack on the telephone exchange on November 18 left an Army major, two CRPF jawans and a BSNL employee dead, besides nine Army personnel injured. — PTI
