5 suspected ULFA militants shot dead

GUWAHATI Dec. 25. Five suspected ULFA militants, fleeing from Bhutan, were gunned down by the Army in an encounter that lasted several hours, at Manju Gaon, under the Tamulpur Police Station in Kamrup district, in the early hours today.

Police sources said two AK 56 rifles, one LMG, three grenades, live ammunition of AK 47 rifles and two magazines for the LMGs were recovered.

PTI reports:

Thirty seven women among the 64 ULFA family members, including 27 children, handed over yesterday to Indian authorities by the Bhutan Government, were ULFA cadres, the Governor, Lieutenant General (retd.) Ajai Singh told reporters here today.
