Tatas, Bharti get LoI for West Bengal circle

NEW DELHI DEC. 27. The Tata group has received a letter of intent for acquiring new unified access licence in West Bengal circle. "We have received LoI for new unified access licence for West Bengal circle yesterday," Ashok Sud, Chief Regulatory Officer, Tatas, told PTI. This has taken the Tata's total tally of LoI to 12, Mr. Sud said. The Tata group has already received LoIs for Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh (West), Kerala, Kolkata, Rajasthan, Bihar, Orissa, Uttar Pradesh (East), Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. The Bharti group has got a letter of intent to acquire unified access licence to offer GSM-based mobile services in West Bengal circle, taking its tally to 22 circles of the total 23. Last month, Bharti had applied for unified licences for six circles including Rajasthan, J&K, Uttar Pradesh (East), Bihar, Orissa and West Bengal. LoIs for the other five circles were issued last month, company officials said here. — PTI
