According to temple authorities, the `hundi' income touched Rs. 1,07,33,000 today. This was apart from gold, silver and other precious stones found in it. The significant feature of today's `hundi' collections was that an unknown devotee, in a single offering, had deposited a `bundle' consisting of 35 sections of Rs. 500 denomination. Meanwhile, with the New Year just four days away the temple town was bursting at its seams with pilgrims making a beeline to the hill shrine. While the waiting time for the paid `Sudarshan' tickets had extended beyond 50 hours, for those opting for free darshan it had crossed 65 hours, throwing the arrangements made by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) out of gear.
