For whom the tallest man bends?

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD Dec. 27. It was a rare spectacle of the tallest man in the country meeting four dwarfs at NTR Bhavan, Telugu Desam Party headquarters, here on Saturday.

They met accidentally and exchanged the ups and downs in their lives having come to meet the TDP president and Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Gattaiah, who stands 7'6" and is the second tallest in the world, has been unsuccessfully visiting NTR Bhavan to catch up with Mr. Naidu for last three days but could make it only on Saturday. By coincidence, the dwarfs -- D. Devaiah, Mohd. Raheem, Veeravelli Ramu and Mohd. Ayub -

turned up at the venue for the same purpose.

Gattaiah (27), who hails from Ramagundem in Karimnagar district, bent down to shake hands with the Lilliputians and heard them for a long time. All eyes were focused on them as they interacted. Gattaiah was unable to walk fast although he took long strides. When Mr. Naidu was leaving after the politburo meeting, Gattaiah presented a memorandum to him seeking a job in tourist spots like NTR Gardens in the city. The dwarfs also presented a memorandum urging the Government to recognise them as physically handicapped and sought financial assistance.
