Russia delivers more Sukhoi jets

Moscow Dec. 27. Russia has delivered another batch of 12 Su-30MKI multi-role fighters to India, increasing the total number of jets so far supplied to 22.

A spokesman from the Irkut Aircraft and Science and Production Corporation made this announcement last evening, ITAR-TASS reported today.

Russia is supplying the Su-30 MKIs to India, under a deal signed in 1996, which envisages the delivery of 120 aircraft from Russia.

Another 140 jets that are the world's first exported warplanes with vectored-thrust engines and phased array radars, will be manufactured at HAL under Russian licence.

The aircraft has especially been designed to suit the IAF's conditions. — UNI
