In an interview to UNI here, the Chief Minister, Raman Singh, said his Government would approach the Centre for a special package for launching multi-pronged strategies, including development of tribal Bastar and Sarguja regions and modernisation of police force, to contain the Naxalite problem. Asked whether the new Government would try to impress upon the Centre to clear the Rs. 1430 crore action plan to tackle Naxalites which had been pending with the Centre for more than three years, the Chief Minister said, ``we have to examine that proposal.'' However, Dr. Singh said though the Centre had given assistance for the modernisation of police force, the previous Ajit Jogi Government could spent only 32 per cent of the funds allocated. Similar was the situation in many departments, including in Tribal and Rural Development, he added.
