Police examining documents from Daler's house

PATIALA DEC. 27. The Patiala Police is examining the documents, including two passports, recovered from the New Delhi premises of Indipop singer Daler Mehndi arrested recently in connection with the human trafficking case against him and four others, police sources said here today.

The sources said the documents being studied and examined include two old passports of the singer, lists of artists and assistants forming part of his troupe and statement of bank accounts.

Daler would be produced before a court here tomorrow on the expiry of his police remand which was extended on Wednesday.

The singer was arrested in Delhi last week in connection with the case registered against him and others in October on the complaint of one Bakshish Singh, who had alleged that he was not taken abroad even though he had paid Rs. 13 lakhs out of the demanded Rs. 15 lakhs to the accused.

Daler's brother Shamsher Singh is in judicial custody.

Daler was medically examined today and was found to be suffering from cold, police sources said.

He was also questioned by senior police officials, including the Senior Superintendent of Police, A.S. Rai, here this evening in connection with the documents recovered in Delhi.

Meanwhile, the singer's counsel alleged that the police was mentally harassing Daler. — PTI
