`Secular front to be incomplete without IUML'

By Our Staff Reporter

MALAPPURAM DEC. 27. The Minister for Industries, P.K. Kunhalikutty, has said that the proposed secular coalition at the national level would be incomplete without the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML).

In an informal chat with mediapersons here today, he, however, maintained that it was for the Congress to decide which all parties should be included in the coalition. His party had an impressive track record of maintaining communal harmony in the country, said Mr. Kunhalikutty, who is also the IUML Legislative Party leader.

He was reacting to the reported move of the Congress to chalk out plans on its `Shimla Sankalp' with the objective of forming a secular front for the Lok Sabha elections.

Replying to queries on the crisis in the State unit of the Congress, he said the IUML was waiting for a decision of that party's high command. He expressed the hope that the crisis would be resolved before the next Assembly session.
