Negi, Sethuraman in lead

NEW DELHI DEC. 27. S. Nitin held top seed Y. Sandeep while Parimarjan Negi and S.P. Sethuraman posted victories to share the lead with seven points each after the eighth round of the Parsvnath National under-11 chess championship at the Bapu Samaj Sewa Kendra here on Saturday.

Negi, representing Indian Airlines, defeated P. Prachura and Sethuraman of Tamil Nadu beat Shubham Pinge to head the table.

The results: Boys: eighth round: S. Nitin (6.5) drew with Y. Sandeep (6.5); Parimarjan Negi (7) bt P. Prachura (6); Shubham Pinge (5.5) lost to S.P. Sethuraman (7); R. Aditya (6.5) bt V. Nikhil Shah (5.5); S. Karthikeyan (6) bt G. Jai Ganesh (5); Abhishek Kelkar (4.5) lost to M. Rajesh (5.5);

Seventh round: Sandeep drew with Negi; Sethuraman bt Tejesh Chandra; Prachura bt Karthikeyan.

Girls: seventh round: Devangi Patankar (6) bt Bhakti Kulkarni (5.5); G. Madanasri (6) bt Divyasree Ch. (5); S. V. Sathya Priya (5.5) bt V. Chaitnya (5); S. Ashwini (5) drew with S. L. Padmaja (5); Pon. K. Krithikha (5) bt K. E. R. Ranjitha (4.5); D. Tejasri (5) bt R. Bharathi (4);
