TUTICORIN DEC. 27. Top seed R. Balasubramanian (ICF) and Ram S. Krishnan, Chennai, are leading with 3 points each at the end of the third round of the Pearl City Chess Association Trophy State-level Open tournament here on Saturday.

Important results (Third round): R. Balasubramanian (ICF) 3 bt M. Paramasivam (VRN) 2; K. Haridas (TNSTC) 2.5 drew with R. Preetham Sharma (Che) 2.5; C. Natarajan (ICF) 2.5 drew with H. Venkatesh (Che) 2.5; Sri Prasanth (SIK) 2 lost to Ram S. Krishnan (Che) 3; P. Phoobalan (CBE) 2.5 drew with R. Utham Sharma (TVR) 2.5; P. Stanley Samson (TTN) 2.5 drew with C. Praveenkumar (Mdu) 2.5.

Students (U-17, 3rd round): B. Saravanan (PCA) 3 bt Santheesh 2; K. Devendra Rajesh 3 bt Joe 2; N. Paul lost to Mane Sujeeth 3; T. Vishnu Priya bt K.P. Hari 2; R. Selva Ganapathy 3 bt L. Manikandan 2.
