Kerala-Kochi
By Our Staff Reporter
In a statement here today, the District Collector, Gyanesh Kumar, said two-way bus traffic would start plying on this route from February 1 next year. The Collector has directed the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) to conduct a study of the much-needed re-routing of the buses along this route and submit her recommendations by January 15 after consulting the people's representatives, traffic police and private bus operators. The recommendations of the RTO will then be placed in the special RTA meeting to be convened in the last week of January for a final decision The RTO will study in detail all permits in this sector with an objective of keeping the buses travelling across North and South overbridges to a public need based minimum. The 4 km road which links Kaloor and Kadavanthra junctions, if properly planned, is expected to bring considerable relief to the congested city traffic. The road was completed a couple of years ago but for a brief stretch of land, which involved court wrangling. About 22 cents were taken in possession by the GCDA today for the completion of the work.
