Andhra Pradesh-Hyderabad
By Our Staff Reporter
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, the MCH Commissioner, Chitra Ramachandran, said another 100 teams with staff drawn from different departments have been pressed into service for finishing the verification task. Nearly 470 teams are already on the job sifting through the high number of claims in the 13 Assembly Constituencies that fall under the corporation's jurisdiction. Among the residual electors, the teams went through 3.41 lakh claims and found that one-third were fit for deletion, she said. Extra teams were also being deployed in some constituencies that Mrs. Ramachandran described as `complicated ones'. The Commissioner said the whole work was proceeding as per schedule and expressed confidence of completing the work by the deadline of January 20. The preliminary work including readying the mother rolls, was already attended to and only the additions and deletions, once verification was completed, were needed to be done. Asked about the comments made by K.J. Rao, a member of Election Commission team, on certain `guidelines and instructions of the Commission not being followed', Mrs. Ramachandran described these as technical ones in nature. "Mr. Rao is here to guide and tell us where we are going wrong," she remarked.
