CSAAAW is a coalition of various organisations and concerned individuals and was formed subsequent to a fact-finding mission undertaken by Mahila Jagruthi and Pedestrian Pictures, a media group, who are part of the campaign. Speaking to presspersons here on Saturday, Sudha Seetharaman, said the programmes were being organised to create public awareness and mobilise their support and to highlight the failure of the authorities to respond to the issue. There was also a need to take steps to prevent such attacks, she said. A documentary film, "Burnt but not destroyed" directed by Sanjana C.B. and Deepu of Pedestrian Pictures which focuses on the strength of the acid attack survivors, who are determined to bring the persons who have attacked them with acid to book will be screened at Gandhi Bhavan on January 3 at 5 p.m. The film also carries the reactions of people, including police personnel. The organisation will submit a memorandum of demands to the Home Minister, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Minister for Women and Child Development, Motamma. On January 4, a public hearing will be held at the Government Arts College wherein survivors will share their experiences. Ms. Motamma, Philomena Peris, Chairperson, Karnataka State Women's Commission, S. Mariswamy, City Police Commissioner, and others will be present.
