Change in leadership inevitable: Murali

By Our Staff Reporter

KALPETTA DEC. 28. Both the UDF and the Congress would become the laughing-stock, if the present crisis in the Congress were to continue, said the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president, K. Muraleedharan, MP.

Talking to mediapersons here today, Mr. Muraleedharan said the party was split vertically down the middle and workers were divided even at the lower levels.

Referring to demands for a change in leadership in the Government, he said that a leadership change had become inevitable. It was not because of personal animosity towards the Chief Minister, A.K. Antony. But it was on account of his statements that had hurt the minorities, his handling of the Marad issue, "mounting'' law and order problems and "paralysis'' in administration, he said.

Mr. Muraleedharan said the Indian Union Muslim League leader and Industries Minister, P.K. Kunhalikutty, has agreed on the need for a secular front to fight communal forces.
