As part of the campaign, the Lok Satta, floated by the former IAS officer, Jayaprakash Narayan, will take an active part in electoral roll finalisation, creating awareness among voters, hold debate among candidates and pre and post-poll surveys and monitor the polling process. A State-level Election Watch screening committee has been set up with the former Lok Ayuktas -- D. Jagannatha Raju and Seetharama Reddy, the former Chief Justice of AP and Allahabad High Courts, A. Lakshmana Rao, the human rights activist, K.G. Kannabiran, and the former chairman of AP Press Academy, Potturi Venkateswara Rao, and others as members. The Lok Satta State campaign coordinator, D.V.V.S. Varma, told reporters here on Sunday that they would set up committees at district and constituency level to create 30,000 strong volunteers to push through the campaign. He said that they would collect information on criminal records of candidates from the public and various organisations by January 20 and write letters to the candidates/parties concerned by month-end to seek their clarification on the charges framed by various courts against them.
