Kushabhau Thakre dead

New Delhi Dec. 28. Khushabhau Thakre, an RSS ``pracharak'' who rose to become president of the Bharatiya Janata Party when it came to power at the Centre, died here today following prolonged illness. He was 82 and a bachelor.

Mr. Thakre was suffering from cancer of kidney, which had spread all over the body, the officiating Medical Superintendent of the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences, D.K. Sharma, said.

He was admitted to the hospital and discharged a number of times in the recent past. He was admitted again last week and the end came at 8 a.m.
