Fog disrupts train schedule

NEW DELHI DEC. 28. Dense fog in several parts of North and East India led to rescheduling of seven trains and cancellation of six others in the Capital, even as the flight operations to Indira Gandhi International Airport remained normal due to adequate visibility.

The Northern Railway had to reschedule the departure of seven trains from Delhi due to fog. The trains that were affected included 4258 New Delhi-Varanasi Kashi Vishwanath Express whose departure was delayed by 2 hours and 20 minutes and rescheduled to 3-50 p.m. Similarly 2780 Hazrat Nizamuddin-Vasco de Gama Goa Express was rescheduled to leave at 5-30 p.m. instead of 3 p.m..

The other trains that needed to be rescheduled were 2392 New Delhi-Patna Magadh Mail, which would leave at 00-50 a.m. as against 8 p.m; 4056 Delhi-Dibrugarh Brahmaputra Mail would also leave at 00-50 a.m. instead of 9-15 p.m.; 4048 Delhi-Ruxaul Satyagrah Express that was rescheduled to leave at 9-30 p.m. instead of 5-20 p.m.; 3040 Delhi-Howrah Janata Express at 4-30 p.m. in place of 3-30 p.m.; and 4059 Delhi Srai Rohilla-Jalandhar Express at 6-30 p.m. instead of 5-40 p.m.

The thick fog also led to cancellation of several trains. This included 4660 Amritsar-New Delhi Intercity Express which was to leave at 6 a.m.; 4681 New Delhi-Jalandhar Inter City Express that was scheduled to leave at 2-50 p.m.; 4722 Sriganganagar-New Delhi Dainik Express which was supposed to leave at 5-30 p.m.; and 4731 New Delhi-Bhatinda Inter city Express which was to leave at 2-30 p.m.

The 3050 Amritsar-Howrah Express, which was scheduled to leave Amritsar at 5-45 p.m. and pass through Delhi en route Howrah was also cancelled. Besides, the 4556 Delhi-Bareilly Express scheduled to leave Delhi at 6-25 a.m. was being terminated at Chandausi and 4556/4555 was cancelled between Chandausi-Bareilly-Chandausi for the day.
