Inebriated man `kills' wife, surrenders

BANGALORE DEC. 28. A man, who is said to have murdered his wife, reportedly surrendered to the Devarajeevanahalli Police on Sunday.

According to police, Murugesh (36), a coolie, residing in Doddanna Nagar, who was drunk, allegedly murdered one of his two wives, Sumitra (30), after a quarrel with her.

Murugesh also tried to shift Sumitra to a hospital but she died on the way. He then took the body to the police station and surrendered there, police said. His other wife, Muniratna (27), had gone to her mother's place with her three children. Murugesh has four children through Sumitra.

Electrocuted

A woman and her son were electrocuted after they accidentally came in contact with a geyser in Giri Nagar on Saturday.

Police gave the names of the victims as Gayatri (28) and Suraj (2). Her daughter, Chandana (4), was asleep when the incident occurred. Gayatri's husband, Chandrahas (35), who had gone to the market, returned home and as his wife did not open the door for him, he broke it open to find Gayatri and Suraj dead in the bathroom.

Rescued

Fire Force personnel rescued an old woman from a 48 ft well in Padarayanapura on Sunday.

Police gave the name of the victim as Sarina (60). Residents informed Jagjivan Ram Police who alerted the Fire Force.

Cheated

A woman was allegedly cheated of Rs. 60,000 in Kempegowda Nagar on Saturday.

Police quoting Pushpalata (36) of Vijayanagar said she approached Raghunath Swamiji for treatment and paid him the cash. But the swamiji fled his ashram in Chamarajpet.

Police said the name of the ashram run by the swamiji was Temple of Success. They said the main branch of the ashram was in Shimoga. They said the swamiji claimed to cure patients by the touch of his hand.

A complaint has been registered. A search is on for the swamiji.
