The proposed alliance of the DMK, the Congress and the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) is "anti-national" and it should be opposed by all parties in the interest of national security and integrity, the party president, Subramanian Swamy, told presspersons here today. The Janata Party, he said, would be prepared to give unconditional support to candidates belonging to any front provided it made opposition to the LTTE as the election plank. Asked whether the Janata Party would align with the All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Dr. Swamy said the party was not averse to renewal of ties, provided Ms. Jayalalithaa made amends for `betraying' the party at the last minute in the 1999 Lok Sabha election.
