He welcomed the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's decision to quit the National Democratic Alliance and said the CPI was keen on keeping at bay the Bharatiya Janata Party and the All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in the Lok Sabha polls. To ensure this, an alliance with secular and other like-minded parties would be an effective arrangement, he said. Mr. Nallakannu charged the AIADMK with zealously implementing the policies of the BJP. Hence the need to ensure the defeat of the BJP and the AIADMK which were adopting `anti-people policies.' The CPI leader ruled out the possibility of formation a third front in the polls.
