`Biscuit bandit' held at Central

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI DEC. 30. Railway Protection Force officials today nabbed a Bihar youth, said to be a "biscuit bandit."

Mohammed Hasan of Dharbhanga district in Bihar was arrested while he was moving in a suspicious manner at the Central station here this evening.

The officials said that while they were questioning the youth, a group of workers, who came to the station to see off their friends travelling by the Chennai-Jaipur Express, identified him. They told the police that one of their friends, Chandaram, lost Rs 1.5 lakhs in cash to him while he was on his way to Jaipur. Mr. Chandaram, who is in Chennai now, was summoned by the RPF. He told the police that the youth, who travelled as a co-passenger in the Chennai - Jaipur Express in November last, befriended him and offered sedate-mixed biscuits to him near Gudur. After consuming the biscuits, he became unconscious. When Mr. Chandaram regained consciousness at Jaipur, he found the cash kept in his suitcase missing.

The RPF seized Rs. 9,500 in cash, a cell phone and two biscuit pockets from Mohammed Hasan.
