Cops to keep an eye on New Year revellers

HYDERABAD DEC. 30. The City Commissioner of Police, R.P. Singh, has announced several traffic restrictions, especially around the Necklace Road, on the night of December 31 and January 1.

The traffic police will undertake extensive checks on motorists to curb drunken driving with the use of breath analysers, rash and negligent driving with radar guns and unruly behaviour.

Accordingly, traffic from Visvesvaraya statue towards Necklace Road and Telugu Talli statue will be diverted via Khairatabad and Raj Bhavan Road from 11 p.m., while traffic from Boorugula Ramakrishna Rao Bhavan towards Buddha Purnima Road will be diverted at Secretariat U-turn towards Iqbal Minar.

Traffic from Secretariat towards Necklace Road will be diverted at Telugu Talli statue towards Upper Tank Bund from 11 p.m. and that from Khairatabad market towards Necklace Rotary will be allowed from Khairatabad Library towards Meera Theatre lane.

The Mint Compound lane will be closed for general traffic. Vehicles coming towards Necklace Road from Nallagutta Railway Bridge will be diverted towards Karbala Maidan from 5 p.m.
