88 Hussain's works fetch $ 1 million

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD DEC. 30. A set of 88 oil paintings which the celebrated artist, M.F.Hussain, put together when he turned 88 in September this year, has been bought by an unidentified art lover for US $ 1 million.

According to Nazma Hussain, director of Cinema Ghar, set up by the barefoot artist himself at Banjara Hills in the City, the set was put together with a series of paintings that Hussain painted in Paris, Delhi and Kolkata.

These works encompass various aspects of life and were not a documentation of any particular event, she said.

The set has also been brought out as a coffee-table book.

"The deal has been stuck for US $ 1 million today but the buyer is not willing to reveal his identity," claimed Mrs. Hussain.
