Police pickets would be posted in different parts of the city. Strict action would be taken against drunken driving and over-speeding. They would be taken into custody and licences suspended. If the public face any inconvenience, they could seek police assistance by contacting `100' or `1090', the Commissioner, Rajan Singh, said in a release here today. Vigil has been intensified at Kovalam, Hawa Beach, Samudra Beach, Shangumughom, Veli and other parts of the city which are the main venues of celebrations, the release said.
