The decision was taken here on Saturday after the National selectors along with the honorary secretary of the Board, Mr. S.K. Nair, had a telephonic discussion before deciding on Gavaskar. The Board's working committee, which will be meeting here on Sunday, is likely to decide on itinerary of India's tour of Pakistan and, bribery allegation of Maharashtra cricketer Abhijit Kale among other things. Meanwhile, Hemang Badani, Yuvraj Singh, Sanjay Bangar left for Australia from Chennai on Saturday to join the Indian team for in Australia. The competition begins with India taking on Australia in Melbourne on January 9. Hemang Badani, who is also the captain of the India `A' for limited overs matches, said "it has always been my dream to play in Australia. That is where every cricketer aspires to play. It will be a great challenge for all of us. I am confident we will do well."
