Idea Cellular cuts roaming charges

NEW DELHI JAN. 3. Close on heels of mobile players announcing a reduction in roaming charges, Idea Cellular today announced national roaming at the rate of Rs. 1.99 for post paid customers across its five circles including Delhi, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, in addition to a charge of Rs. 25 per month.

"The new roaming tariff is effective from January 1, 2004. There will be a rental of Rs. 25 a month applicable on this offer," an Idea statement said here.

Commenting on the development, Vikram Mehmi, CEO of Idea Cellular, said, "Now Idea customers can enjoy the best tariffs and garner maximum value from their mobile usage".

Incoming calls as well as local outgoing calls to cellphones, WLL or landline would attract a roaming tariff of Rs. 1.99 per minute as also outgoing STD calls to cellphones. — PTI
