NDA has an advantage: Dattatreya

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI JAN. 3. The Union Minister for Urban Development, Bandaru Dattatreya, said today that the development work undertaken by the ruling National Democratic Alliance and the fact that the combination was in place, gave them a head start over the Opposition in the Lok Sabha elections.

Mr. Dattatreya also said the benefit would rub off on the Telugu Desam Party-Bharatiya Janata Party alliance in Andhra Pradesh, where Assembly elections are also scheduled to be held this year.

"Unlike the past when the anti-Congress forces were united, the anti-BJP-TDP forces in the State are divided,'' he said adding that there were contradictions in the Opposition camp that would prove beneficial to the ruling alliance. At a press conference, he said the Congress was caught in a dilemma over the Telangana issue and even on aligning with the Telangana Rashtra Samiti. The two communist parties too have differences over the issue.
