Speaking at the function, Ms. Swaraj expressed concern over the tragedy and extended the sympathies of the people of India to the Iranian public. "The Indian people are with you in this hour of crisis,'' she said, adding that the Indian Government would provide more relief in case of need. "Any amount of help we provide will not be adequate for people of the quake-hit areas. This is a token help we are extending to the people with the hope that normality will return soon. The Indian Army too has sent relief material to Iran,'' the Minister said. Officials of the Iranian Embassy thanked the IRCS for the relief material and assured that the supplies would be made available to the victims as the earliest. The IRCS Secretary-General, Vimala Ramaligam, hoped that the relief material would help in lessening the suffering of the affected people. Pointing out that the Red Cross was working in 181 countries, she said everyone should contribute to the best of their capacity to help the victims wherever they may be. Ms. Swaraj flagged off six trucks carrying relief material which will be airlifted for distribution in Iran.
