Sharad Yadav denies having talks with Paswan
By Our Special Correspondent
PATNA
Jan. 3.
The Union Food and Civil supplies Minister, Sharad Yadav, denied that he had had any talks with the former Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party president, Ram Vilas Paswan, to woo him back into the National Democratic Alliance.
Mr. Yadav, however, said that the JD(U) president and Defence Minister, George Fernandes, had a dialogue with Mr. Paswan.
A similar process was being held with various parties and these were all at the discussion stage.
The priority was to strengthen the JD(U) and soon the leaders of the State unit and the legislative wing would be appointed.
The augmented Janata Dal (U) legislature party at its meeting authorised Mr. Yadav to nominate its leader today. The JD(U) leaders maintained that 30 out of the 38 legislators attended today's meeting.
