Abdul Rauf was found murdered near the Gandhi Chowk in Sirguppa town on Sunday last. Hemant Nimbalkar, Superintendent of Police, in a press release, said that a special investigation team gathered clues and arrested Srinivas Reddy, Srinivas alias "Kalla" Seena, and Marenna, all residents of Sirguppa town. Difference of opinion with regard to sale and purchase of land between Rauf and Srinivas Reddy, and Rauf's bid to seek accounts from Marenna, who was managing property belonging to Rauf's stepmother, were said to be the motive for the murder. According to Mr. Nimbalkar, Srinivas Reddy was enraged when Rauf did not agree to purchase 10 acres of land and tried to stop others from purchasing the land. Srinivas Reddy was in need of money to perform his sister's marriage. The marriage could not materialise for want of money, it was said. Mr. Nimbalkar said Marenna, who was supervising and managing the assets of Rauf's stepmother, developed a grudge against Rauf when the latter at the behest of his stepmother (who suspected misappropriation) asked him to produce accounts. Mr. Nimbalkar said Srinivas Reddy and Marenna hatched a plot to eliminate Rauf. They procured two country bombs from Adoni and took the assistance of "Kalla" Seena, who was a friend of Srinivas Reddy. On Sunday evening, when Rauf was riding his two-wheeler, one of the three arrested persons managed to draw his attention and made him stop for a while. Immediately, another person attacked him with a lethal weapon. Rauf died in hospital, Mr. Nimbalkar said.
