A cold week-end for Delhi

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI JAN. 3. The Capital experienced yet another cold day on Saturday though there was not much fog in the morning. The sun came out by forenoon but it failed to give much relief to Delhiites as the cold wave conditions continued unabated.

According to the weatherman, the minimum temperature rose to 6.2 degrees Celsius -- which was two degrees above Friday's 4.2 degrees, the season's lowest so far -- while the maximum temperature stood at 16 degrees.

The fog that enveloped Indira Gandhi International Airport on Friday night affected morning flights on Saturday which could be resumed only after 9 a.m.

The movement of over 50 trains was also disrupted. The rail traffic was badly hit due to fog resulting in cancellation of eight trains, rescheduling of 11 and over 50 running behind schedule.

The cancelled trains included Kalindi Express, Lal Quila Express, Unchahar Express and Intercity Express.

Among the trains rescheduled were Magadh Express, Shalimar Express, Sealdah Express, Bhubaneshwar Rajdhani Express, Sadbhawana Express, Satyagrah Express, Janata Express, Mahakaushal Express, Jharkhand Express, Swantrata Sainani Express and Jaisalmer Express.
