Cricket
South Africa won the toss and put the Indians in to bat. With Philander firing all cylinders from one end, F. Francois (two for 21) also added his bit to the effort and restricted India `A' to 136 for seven in a 42-overs-a-side match. In reply, South Africa hammered the requisite runs in just 30.2 overs with F. Plessis (46) and Imran Khan (44) making the major contributions. The scores: India `A' 136 for seven in 42 overs (Soumick Chatterjee 39, V. Philander four for 10) lost to South Africa 137 for three in 30.2 overs (F. Plessis 46, Imran Khan 44).
