Mr. Baig had resigned to take up party work and not over the stamp paper scam is the stand though there might be few takers for such an explanation. Some more Ministers will be resigning, it is being stated. The Congress needed the services of those Ministers to face the Assembly and parliamentary elections which are expected to be held ahead of schedule. The AICC is stated to have permitted the Chief Minister, S.M. Krishna, to secure the resignation of some more Ministers to draft them for party work. At least one of the Ministers, D.K. Shivakumar, has expressed his willingness to take up organisational work. The names of some more Ministers such as H. Vishwanath are also being mentioned as those likely to be entrusted with party work.
