Letters to the Editor
Sir, I refer to the meeting of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and the Pakistan President, Pervez Musharraf. In freezing winter, it is good to see the ice melting in the India-Pakistan relationship. The SAARC summit has exuded a new hope that both nations can open the door to friendship. However, it is not yet time to celebrate. K. Sharda, Raipur * * * Sir, This has reference to the creation of a poverty alleviation fund proposed by Mr. Vajpayee by offering $100 million for the projects within SAARC but outside India. All the member-states of SAARC should embark on such projects instead of spending on arms and ammunitions. C.S. Venkataraghavan, Chennai * * * Sir, I would like to wish Mr. Vajpayee good luck in his effort to bring peace between India and Pakistan. He is showing statesmanship, which is commendable. The people on both sides do not want war. R. Raghu, Mysore
