Letters to the Editor
Sir, It is ironical that the Congress leaders are virtually appealing to Kalyan Singh to bail them out (Jan. 6). The Congress has, of late, become a rudderless ship. In desperation, its leaders are approaching regional and small parties throwing the party's principles to the winds. Since it has little or no presence in the Uttar Pradesh, it is running from pillar to post in search of a vote catcher. H.P. Murali, Bangalore * * * Sir, Reorientation, reshuffling and regrouping among the political parties are taking place at lightening speed. Parties which till yesterday were in the tight embrace of `communal' forces are jumping into `secular' attire overnight. Such dexterity in changing colours would do a chameleon proud. T.S. Rao, Visakhapatnam, A.P. * * * Sir, Silence is an art of conversation. A silent tongue is the sign of a wise head. One should learn this from P.V. Narasimha Rao who has rightly been portrayed as the best bet against Mr. Vajpayee by P.A. Sangma. The Congress should field Mr. Rao as its prime ministerial candidate in the coming Lok Sabha elections. K. Pradeep, Chennai
