The District Judge, Victor Yeo Khee Eng, granted Mr. Aiyar bail pending appeal against today's verdict. Having pronounced the accused guilty in a finding delivered here on December 30, the judge passed the sentence today after rejecting the defence counsel's "mitigation plea.'' A four-month imprisonment was imposed in respect of one of the two counts, both relating to the charges of outraging the modesty of the woman, with a 12-month jail term as regards the second offence. These two sentences would run consecutively and not concurrently, Judge Victor Yeo said.
