Jammu & Kashmir
The state government has formulated the two projects, involving Rs 3100 crores, the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said here yesterday at a high level meeting. The project for Greater Srinagar City would cost Rs 1700 crores and for Greater Jammu Rs 1400 crores, he said, adding both projects after technical clearance from the Centre are being posed to international financial institutions like the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank for funding. ``We need foreign funding for their (projects) implementation,'' he said. While issuing instructions for raising institutional resources for the construction of Rs 100 crore multi-facility commercial complex at Old State Road Transport Corporation yard in Srinagar, Sayeed said this should come up as another landmark to generate larger economic activity and employment. He directed the authorities to complete work on widening and upgradation of Srinagar by-pass road stretch to pave way for Kashmir-to-Kanyakumari superhighway express corridor. The Chief Minister also discussed modalities for setting up of Delhi Public Schools in all districts and asked the Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag to hand over land for constructing Kendriya Vidyalaya in the district and identifying location around Pahalgam for setting up a residential army school. He said new drinking and irrigation water supply schemes should be formulated, wherever permissible under Indus water treaty. -- PTI
