JNTU on-line exam training programme begins
NIZAMABAD
Jan. 6.
The third phase of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) on-line examination training programme for faculty members and students of various engineering colleges across the State got underway on Tuesday at the Vijay Rural Engineering College here.
The Chairman of Ideal Education Society, K. Narender Reddy, who runs the engineering college, formally inaugurated the weeklong training programmes to be attended by faculty members of 33 engineering colleges from different parts of the State. The training programme is being jointly organised by the JNTU and the Centre for Good Governance.
Speaking at the inaugural session, Mr. Narender Reddy, said this first of its kind attempt by the JNTU would go a long way in enhancing the prestige of the renowned technological university. He said though the introduction of the on-line examination system was welcome, the JNTU should also look into the financial aspects involved in the project.
He pointed out that while introducing the on-line examination, the colleges were required to improve their infrastructure and provide sufficient computers for the students to take the tests. He hoped that the JNTU would look into the issue of financial assistance to colleges. He said that the on-line examination system would reduce malpractices and merit would get its due recognition.
The representative of the Centre for Good Governance, Anil Kumar Sastry, addressing the faculty members said that while student management programme was for the students, the on-line training programme was targeted for the faculty.
The thrust in the training programme is web technology so that students are in a position to take up projects coming their way and asked students to come up with projects after the training. He said the training would benefit the students and others and enable eGovernance in rural areas and that such training programmes should become nodal centres for developing eGovernance projects for the Government. He said the State Government, which is according top priority to information technology, would be the biggest project giver to the students.
The Principal of Vijay Rural Engineering College, Prashant Gupta, said the on-going training programme would go a long way in creating better opportunities for the students and the faculty.
