`Include Yoga, Ayurveda in curriculum'

BIJAPUR JAN. 6. The Director of Karnataka State Board for Indian System of Medicines and Homoeopathy, B.S. Nataraj, said here on Tuesday that there was need to incorporate Yoga education and basics of the Ayurveda system in school curriculum.

Inaugurating a two-day Yoga Sammelan organised by the Maharshri Charaka Memorial Ayurved, Yoga and Naturopathy Research Foundation, Dr. Nataraj said steps had to be taken to give at least physical instructors training in Yoga.

He said the Board was ready to help those interested in projects to spread and strengthen the Indian system of medicines.

The Chief Trustee of the foundation, Babagouda Patil, said Ayurveda was the oldest and a proven system of medicine in the world. Likewise, Yoga topped all methods of physical education because it had remedy for many health ailments. These systems had to patronised by the Government, he added.

Chandramouli Naikar, who presided over the function, said many people were neglecting health in an attempt to earn more money, and spent the same to regain lost health.
